Protect and Resist in the First 100 Days

From SURJ National:

The first few weeks into the first 100 days of the Trump administration have already been an onslaught of violence and chaos. In the midst of the storm, we’ll continue grounding together to keep learning, building, and organizing. Mark your calendar for Wed nights with SURJ!

This series will build off of the powerful work of the Gear Up organizing and action program and will consist of three parts:

  • Political education webinars
  • Action hours
  • Circle support calls

WEBINARS:

Just like in Gear Up, we’ll come together in community to get grounded in our strategy, learn from experts, and hear calls to action to both meet the current moment, and build beyond it. These webinars will be open to anyone. Gear Up members are encouraged to meet with their circles to watch the webinars and discuss. Topics will be announced closer to the dates of the events. Everyone who registers will receive a recording 24-48 hours after the event.

ACTION HOURS

Together, we’ll take action to stem the side of authoritarianism and meet the urgent demands of this moment. We might do things like call representatives, take action to support immigrants, make calls for the Pledge to Protect and Resist or recruit more white people into this work.

Each action hour will have a training portion so you’ll have everything you need to plug in and make an impact. First-timers to SURJ will get an orientation in a Welcome Breakout!

CIRCLE SUPPORT CALLS

This is our community-building space to stay connected while we keep organizing! We’ll share campaign updates, stories from our Local Circles, and connect with other Circle members from across the country in small groups! At least one person from your Local Circle is expected to attend to rep your group on the call and bring info back to the Circle!
